know one's way around или know one's way about {v. phr.}
1. Знать как устроен мир; обладать богатым жизненным опытом.
The sailor had been in the wildest ports in the world. He knew his way around.

2. Или {informal} know one's onions или know one's stuff — иметь опыт и навыки в каком-либо деле.
